Not Bad for a Monday!

I know a lot of people have today off for New Years, but today we went back to work. All of us. Hubby's company took New Year's holiday on Friday, so he went back to work today and I just decided that we needed to start school back up again. It's been a good time off, but there can be too much of a good thing. So, we did school. Not without a lot of weeping and wailing and gnashing of teeth, to be sure. Bubba was beside himself, arguing every single point. For example, today in Bible, we studied Genesis chapter 3, when Adam and Eve sinned. We talked about the two special trees - The Tree of Life and the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil. And then, Bubba started insisting that there were three special trees. I honestly have not a clue as to where he would get such a hare-brained idea as that, but he was insistent. Finally, I just said, "You show me in the Bible where it says that and I'll believe you." He didn't have an answer to that. But, we made it through Bible, and Spelling and Grammar (direct objects for Bubba, pronouns for Duh-duh), Writing, Math, History (we were in Japan today), Reading and Literature (I'm reading aloud "The Railway Children" by E. Nesbit. Great book!) and by then it was almost 3:00, so I made Bubba promise me he'd do two Latin lessons tomorrow without complaining and then let them go. I was worn out. The neighbor kids are still on holiday today, so they're all outside. The weather is very mild for December. It's almost 70 degrees. I've got dinner in the crock pot. Senate Bean Soup from Betty Crocker. I love this soup. It's easy to make and tasty. I'll make a pan of cornbread and a good salad and cut up some tangerines and it'll be a good dinner. My mother-in-law was over today, and bless her heart, played a hundred and one games of Memory with the little ones. So, even though it's a Monday.... an after vacation Monday.... I would say it's been a pretty good day!
